Does anyone know of a source of abs (smooth on BOTH sides) in Georgia? I'm looking for smaller quantities, 15 sheets, 4x8 , in .060 thickness. Most suppliers have the sheets with one rough side. Thank ... |

Doug's plans make a very nice machine. I built the middle sized machine. The plans are well thought-out. All the thinking has been done for you.
Now, Doug, where is my 10%....

Dean,
If you have access to a porta-band it is quick and easy. Just take your time with the cuts. Mark a line first, then follow line with blade. I used a miter saw and chop saw on mine.....at the ... |

Dean,
Sounds corny but, when you are welding with your mig welder, you want it to sound like "bacon" cooking, sorta like a sizzling sound. Practice with your voltage and wire speeds on yo ... |

Dean,
You will have two hot wires, both will measure 115, and also one neutral wire. 3 wires total. Also make sure you have a good contact on your welding machine's ground clamp. |

I bought Doug's plans many years ago. I did finally build a machine. I think they will help you scale the learning curve much faster. IMHO they are worth the price.

Where can you get plastic in that size? Can the hull be done in two sections, and joined at the keel? I have seen some big plastic-hulled boats, but, I think they were rotocast. Interesting pr ... |

220 volts, two circuits for the oven elements, I also used the high heat wire, not sure what it is called but it has a fiber/cloth type insulation, not the typical plastic insulation. |
