MDF is easy to sand down and work with. I use a belt/disc sander alot, also a band saw. I think my favorite tool is an angle grinder with this wood sanding head

One thing I like about this forum is that a lot of you guys like to make wood masters for vac forming. I'm a big fan of it, and I try to avoid plaster.

I've heard that plaster mixed with some amount of DWP will make the Plaster mold stronger.

Never tried it though.

Durhams is great stuff, but it does dry out if the areas are thin enough. I had a mold flake off lots after it dried out completely. Lucky I had already pulled what I needed from that mold.

I got mine from GE Polymer shapes. (a while ago)

I had to call them, the funny thing is that once I described what I wanted, he was like "Stormtrooper Armor right?"

I used the Durhams extensively on my Tusken Raider mask mold, and it worked well at first. It's super easy to mix up, no utterly foul stench of bondo, and goes on easily and molds well.
