Ultimately, the heat produced is inversely proportional to the resistance of the nichrome wire. Less resistance = more heat. Too little resistance and your circuit breaker pops!

Hi Lou,

The pump looks very similar to the ones recommended by other folks in the past. The power requirements look good - 110 volts AC, so no need to setup a special 220 volt circuit Smile

I had a great deal of trouble trying to vacuum form polycarbonate. It is easy to overheat creating in bubbles in the plastic, and the forming time is very small - only a few seconds!

You might try some Rustoleum filler primer. It goes on thick, then you sand it smooth. Apply another coat and sand it smooth. Finish up with a couple of coats of heat resistant paint.

Wow, the vertical sides on your mold are definitely going to give you trouble, especially since the mold is very tall. You're going to get lots of webbing in the vertical corners.

That's almost exactly what I'm using for my own design overhead oven, pulling 22 amps at 220 volts.

The only thing I don't like is the limited 6' length.
