Consider making a rough mock up of the mold from wood or other easy to work, & cheap, materials. Use that to trouble shoot and determine the best design, location and frequency of vac holes.

you dont freeze a mold.. you run internal fluid lines, usually water or car anti freeze, to maintain not a lot moret than 160 degrees F. We said cooling, not cryogenics..... Scott.

Yes your correct about the alum. billet stock being the best do work with...
but did you price the billet stock $$$$ Plus the machining cost,then the polishing cost! it adds up fast.
