Greetings,
I´m Ben from Bavaria/Germany.
At the moment I´m in the process of building my own vacuum former. And for this reason I´ve read a lot of informational sites for the past half year.
It wasn´t easy to get all of the supplies due to the fact that some of the parts most people in the USA use are not very common here in germany. For example: No hardibaker at all for me and an extensive search for a calciumsilicate plate without having to buy a whole set for house building purposes. At a price of 55€ (~75$) for a single plate, a whole set would be pretty expensive.
But now I got most of the parts and will build my machine next week as complete as possible.
The main purpose of the machine will be making car parts like light covers, gauge clusters and so on.
I would have registered earlier on this forum but somehow @web.de e-mail-adresses are banned from the forum. And I did not want to make another e-mail account up to now. _________________ If it doesn´t exist, build it! |

Hey Ben, glad you're here. Sounds like you've got a good start and have carefully researched making a vac former, and potential projects.

Hi and thanks for the welcoming.
The machine is forming step by step. Yesterday I built the oven box ( damn calciumsilicate is dusting extremely when cut).
Today I only coiled the NiChrome wire...by hand. Yes, I couldn´t find coiled NiChr wire here in germany. I even ordered the straight wire from Belgium.
Tomorrow I want to weld the clamping frames and holder for the oven box.
Then I think I´ve got to strenghten the lower table a little bit. Ovenbox + all steel parts are a bit heavier than supposed. _________________ If it doesn´t exist, build it! |
