Hello,

Where's everyone getting thier steel tube from? The local big boxes do not stock anything over 4 feet and it's a bit expensive for it also. Also, any idea what your paying per foot for it?

Thanks,
Dean

I guess you could contact a welding shop and buy from them directly... For me, I just went to Home Depot and paid too much (well, since I don't know any other sources for the tubing, I have no idea how the cost compares to other suppliers).

What kind of table are you building that requires lengths longer than 4 feet?!?

I had to go the the local farm supply store AND the local Lowes to get enough sqaure steel tubing. I have very little waste and did not use a length over 4 feet IIRC.

I got my 3/4" steel square tubing from my local DIY store (B&Q-UK) and was 2.4 meters long (7.8 feet) which was perfect for getting 2 sections from each length.Cost me around £40.00 ($80.00) though.

I'm actually working on building the Proto-form design. I bought the plans years ago but only getting around to doing it now. Some of the metal parts are 56" long. I'm building the 2 x 4 model.

Actually, I used three pieces of 3/4" x 6' Square Aluminum Bar, which cost me about $60. I found it at Home Depot.
