Let me know what you think. I used the tutorial from http://gallery.artofgregmartin.com/tuts_arts/making_a_planet.html as a guide.

This is an idea I have as a planet approach.

I need to rework this one a bit. Still not happy with the cloud cover. The first one was too desert [Mars] looking for a 'swampworld'...

Nice work Jim. Red planet looks fantastic, but as we discussed and you mentioned in your previous post, this is a swamp planet. In that vein of thinking, I tried to root out some reference photos from the web. see image:
