Hello all,

I have been doing simple vacuum forming for the past 2 years, and I frustratingly enjoy it! Smile

Most of the items I have formed, have allready been an existing product, or just playing "bill nye-science guy", with the oven. After lots of fun, and so far no trips to the hospital, I have decided to build my own former/oven for the garage.... it is a 6' tall 4'x2' table. heh...will see how my grand sized plans factor out in the real world, with no "real" electrical, or forming experience (other than the small molds from the kitchen oven.


this was my first "real" VAC-FORMED project. (You know...after you sucked the life out of everything in your home, and wasted sheets of plastic..) Made a 1/6 scale motorcycle helmet, for a GI. JOE, and 1/6 scale collectable motorcycle..
(I will say, I like my ambitions, but the lack of "know how" is a different story Razz BTW, I dropped the helmet when painting it...so thats when I decided to use thick textured craft paints. (hide the damage i did) I plan on revisiting this project, and getting them much more refined Smile
























Anyhow...that was my first "my creation!" Now I have been making some simple other things for friends and family. Most of them fairly simple. (Ornaments, cookie cutter designs, flowers, memorabilia and such) but now i have a track-duty streetbike project for the next year...and I have a few small ideas.


Lots of info, and ideas that I see here (and lots of reading Smile will do my best to read/search first, before posting...

this heating element issue haz me going in circles Razz

Hey Gau-8, welcome to the forum. The helmet looks great and it will be interesting to see how your new projects develop. My vac former is based off the ProtoForm vac former & the modular oven design by Doug Walsh. IMO, it is the most accessible & best DIY design for larger vac formers. Glad you're here and keep posting up your projects!
