Wow!! I really like this resin. I was in a pinch a while back and was looking for something with a 1 to 1 mix and high temp and compression tolerance. Thought I'd give this a try and I keep going back for more. Even though the specs say not to cast more then 1.5" thick I have mass castings of 3.5" with no issues.
I don't rapid cycle so it works fine with my ABS. It's rated for 270 F? after heat curing but, I have tooling with over 75 pulls of ABS @ 320F with no degrgation thus far. Not plugging Task 8 but I've had great results with it.
Wait to you hear about my first VAC 50 nightmare ...

Really nice looking work. Did you carve the original?

Hi Doug
Sorry, I can't can't take credit for the original carving. Sculpting is not really my thing. I picked the original hollow wood mask up at a flea market. It has no copyright / artist mark on it. I did have to add mass on the bottom and add the flat top for the proto pull so it would free stand and release. I usually clay undercuts/ build up areas with clay and cover it with tin foil. The pocking surface is from my dermal. You can carve/machine task 8 too. |
