Hey David, welcome to the forum!
If you're going big from the start (good idea) then consider using the ProtoForm plans. They saved me a ton of headache, time, frustration, and money!

What's wrong with the Formtech? Is that the one that uses a lift system for the mold. What size is it?

yeah thats the 1. it keeps blowing fuses when its on full heat and the pump just stopped last night, im going to pull it apart over the next few days. size wise its about 10x 18 roughly, pretty decent but i want to pull stormtrooper armour so ill need something bigger

So, do you think the problem is with the capacity of the electrical circuit or with the vac former? Does it also have a whole set of controllers for the oven? You might be able to canabalize some parts off of it to help with a larger build. That's probably the biggest change made to my ProtoForm is that controllers were added for the oven. You may not need controllers for the storm trooper armor though. I pull 3/16" black ABS a lot and it can't handle 100% heat without burning.
hth,

yeah the ovan uses 2 controls with 6 levels of heat. im not great with electrics, i can pull things apart and put them back or replace items but im terrible with electrical readings. guess im going to have to get over that lol. i was thinging of using some parts for the build, if i can get the pump working again it might do as a back up for starters.
