Just picked this puppy up yesterday in a private party transaction, with only 60 rounds through it.

It came with a picatinny rail forearm, and a "lazer" (see Austin Powers LOL)....WOOT!!

I'm going to submit the NFA paperwork and $200 tax stamp, install a folding stock, verticle fore-grip, silencer (another $200 tax stamp... sigh)... and have a SWEET SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) in 7.62x39!!

Wow! Really changes the look of the AK. Is the paperwork for the short barrel or is that a full auto? I love the look &n functionality of the rails. Great buy!!

The NFA paperwork is for the short barrel. Anything under 16" for a rifle, and under 18" for a shotgun requires a $200 NFA tax stamp/registration, background check etc.

As for the full-auto, thanks to some shifty legislation only "machineguns" manufactured from 1986 and before are available to the "civillian" market, anything manufactured after that is ony available to military and law enforcement agencies... sigh, its complicated!

Anyway, the available "pool" of full-auto firearms is limited and an M-16 can set you back $15,000 or more! I'll just stick to the semi-auto stuff, ammo isn't very cheap these days anyway. Wink

I've been looking to get a plr-16 for some time, maybe after Xmas...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kel-Tec_PLR-16 ... I know it has a lot of plastic parts, but what doesn't now a days. The price is not bad for what you get...In nevada you can get a conceled carry permit for it...How about that.......Fredo

Yeah, I've seen those. Isn't the recoil spring up above the barrel, in order to do away with the buffer tube like on a "traditional" AR pistol?

As for carrying concealed, if its a pistol its covered under my Oregon CHL, and Washington CPL. Funny thing is, that in Washington SBR's aren't legal (ATM), but I could legally go strutting around with my kit just like it is concealed (or not) because its "legally" a "pistol"! How dumb is THAT law against SBR's? Laughing

Very cool Tony! I always will have a soft spot for the AK platform. The ones I have owned never grouped all that well, but were a blast to shoot, and ALWAYS went bang. For a 100 yard pig slayer, you can't hardly beat it.

Glad y'all like it! It's already undergone a couple changes... took off the laser (put it on my M4-gery...LOL), and installed a Krinkov "cone"-style flash supressor.. got the NFA paperwork stuffed in an envelope with the $200 check for the mail on Monday... then the wait for the tax stamp to come back an BANG, it get's an ACE side-folder stock installed and PRESTO... I have an awesome AK-SBR!
