I bought a few stripped lower receivers a couple years back and decided to get off my duff and start building them out... here's where I've gotten so far in the first endevour...

I put Midwest Industries folding iron sights for the BUIS, the Upper is an Armalite 16" Mid-Length that I put a Daniel's Defence free-float rail system on. Now I just have to decide on the buttstock and primary optics...

I'm thinking of the Ergo F93Pro telescoping buttstock:

And I'm thinking about the Vortex SPARC that has received great reviews and is under $200:

I can tell you one thing.. the AR platform is MUCH MORE expensive to build on than the AK platform is!! Shocked

Looking awesome so far. Makes me wish I didn't have to sell my carbine.

Hey guys,

I just finished up the basic build last week... here it is so far.

I followed through on the F93 buttstock, it's pretty nice!

Now when I have an extra $200 I'll get that Vortex Sparc optic.

Bummer that you have to sell your carbine, Clint!!

A few updates to the Armalite middy... a pressure grip VFG for the laser, Tapco rail covers on the Daniel Defense 9.0 free-float rail system... and waiting to install a HWS until I find one that tickles me just right. Razz

Oh, my! Looks great. I don't see sights on it other than a BUIS. Is that your primary or are you going to go 'Aimpoint/Eotech' high tech?

Heya Jim!

I'm about 95% decided on the Aimpoint PRO (Patrol Rifle Optic) red dot site. For "not a lot more" (under $400 shipped), you get amazing battery life, physical durability, a warranty, accessories, its not a Chinese knock-off, has excellent reviews, and comes with the means for absolute or lower 1/3 co-witnessing with the irons.

I'm kind of getting to the point in my life to just "buy once, cry once" when deciding on "spendy" items anymore... It's usually cheaper in the long run. Wink

Well, about 6 months ago I "bought once, and cried once" and bought the Aimpoint PRO... Laughing

I must say, its a nice optic! I picked up an OEM rubber boot-cover off of eBay for a "couple bucks" about 3-months ago. You can get Chinese knock-offs w/o the Aimpoint lettering all day long for around $12 ship if you'd rather go that route.

This be my "Johnny Rambo" SHTF primary go-to rifle in the PDW role... I could pacify my entire neighborhood with it if ever needed. Wink
