I just imploded the other 5-gallon 130-PSI Dr. Pepper tank. (This one I got on video.)
I imagine the good Doctor is not terribly pleased with my destruction of what is probably technically still Dr. Pepper property, despite its being abandoned*...
*(FOOTNOTE:)
I WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE TO THE DR. PEPPER BOTTLING COMPANY AND ALL ITS SUBSIDIARIES FOR THEIR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS TO RESEARCH ON APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGIES FOR SHORT-RUN VACUUM FORMING.
(:FOOTNOTE)
BTW, I think I said before that they were rated 160 PSI, or something like that. I just looked again, and they say max pressure 130 PSI. Still, that's 9 atmospheres, and 5 pounds more than my little 7-gallon air carry tank.
Kinda disappointing. This one was pretty darned round, if a little dented here and there, and it imploded anyway---and a bit sooner and more thoroughly. This one collapsed into a triangular cross section, rather than square, and with a twist to it. (That is, roughly equilateral triangles near each end, oriented about 15 degrees or so from each other.)
It imploded in a well-behaved way, in two phases. First it just BOONK!ed into a triangular cross section all the sudden, then after the vacuum built back up for a while, pulled into a more concave configuration.
I re-applied vacuum to the other one, and that pulled the sides in more concavely, but nothing dramatic; they popped mostly back out again after releasing the vacuum.

I'm sure you know how it is, Plasticman; everybody's gotta exercise their superpowers now and then. Sometimes I just have to do my mad scientist thing, and go out and do battle with my arch-nemesis, Dr. Pepper. (Suck hot plastic, Dr. Pepper! I will crush you!)
Or it could have been the fine weather and the fine beer. |

Hmmm. Not sure I pull a lot of inches of mercury there. It gets all foamy... yuck.
But at a few in. Hg, I can sustain an impressive flow rate for a good while.
Sort of a wet/dry shop-vac kind of thing. _________________ Paul (a.k.a. Dr. Crash)
