Hello to all, my name is Chris. I am new to posting on the board, but have been reading and using the plethora of information for about a year now. Kudos to Jim for all his hard work and great tutorials here. I have my vac table built (shopvac version, pump is in the works) and have been working on various molds for trooper armor. My current project is HydroCal and the helmet...what is the most common way for the helmet to be formed? Or maybe a better question is: What is the best way?
Thanks again to all

Welcome to the board! I'm glad you found information on the site helpful. Good luck on your trooper project.
As for hydrocal, this is they way StudioCreations suggests making the molds, from clay sculpts, to negative plaster molds, to hydrocal bucks for vac forming. I assume this is your technique?
As for the helmet, you are going to have to be a great sculptor to capture the details that make up that familiar design. You will need some reference pics, a head armature that is 1:1 and loads of time. The face, is one piece, the dome and back are one, and the ears are separate.
