and needed a form of instant gratification. So, I went down to Wal-Mart and picked up a 6X6" baking pan, a vac nozzle connector, 2 $3.00 photo frames and some For Sale signs....

about an hour later (after drilling about 100 holes in the pan) I drilled it down onto a piece of plywod and put duct tape between the pan and the wood (high tech, i know). Drilled a hole in the center of the plywood and started heating the For Sale signs on my propane grill...

W00T! My first vacuum pull... Haha... I was lacking creativity on what to pull a mold of, so this is what i ended up with..

A wrench, and a hat!

I'm afraid of that... I'm already thinking of ways to improve the machine I haven't even built yet.... Shocked !

Wow is right.. I got inspired by this post and decided to do the same thing.. So, I headed over to the dollar store and picked up a few of the same items.. Unfortunatly, my attempt was not near as successful as yours, but I did learn about 100 things that have been talked about on here and it's just not the same as experiencing it yourself. So, I started off by overheating the plastic, realized you have to be careful when touching the hot plastic (I put a dent in it), then realized my frames were made wrong (grabbed some wood and screwed them together), etc..

But, on the good side.. I did learn that my current progress is right on track, as all the "wrong" things I did last night make it obvious why the design I am building is the way it is.. Wink

Thanks for the nudge to actually do something.
