LOL... does THAT bring back memories of my younger days!

BTW- don't forget to stick a lit cigarette on the end of one of the guitar strigs like Eddie did!! Laughing

Ah, man does that look great! My old high school nick name was 'Jimmy Van Halen', not that I could play the guitar, but I was a huge fan back in the day. Anyways, I always really liked the crazy stripes that 'Frankenstein' had. LOL.

Appears it's a popular style to replicate. Lots of tutorials online, and even a good look at a commercial replica being made with Eddie's blessings. Very cool.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Jim

well, here's the latest on my friend's guitar:

Yup. we decided a maple neck with a classical 80's headstock would look best on this guitar. with the 5150 paint job, of course. It'll need weathering, (cigarett burns, fade the neck) and a floyd rose tremolo, (as well as the application of THE big-k little-r KRAMER logo), but we are getting close.

enjoy, all you =VH= fans out there! And the rest of ya too! Laughing

LOL... thay's the only thing that will make this piece not an exact replica... Laughing

Anyway, i weathered it, and this is what it looks like now:

and, with the flash:

headstock (no ciggy... Laughing ): the burns are there, though...

the back of the neck looks bad mainly because of the light. here it looks like eddie through it in a pool of tar, picked it up and played it again. Rolling Eyes

anyway, it's down to the floyd rose tremolo:

a new seymour duncan (or SOMETHING) pickup: (MAYBE...)

and, well, guitar strings! Wink

enjoy!

(^NOT the guitar I'm going for..... Wink Laughing )

LOL!

Alright, well, it's just a matter of getting a new pickup in this thing. As of right now, the tremolo is installed, and feeling and functioning well.

The pickup sucks. I'll be getting the brown sound for this thing eventually, though...
