Hello everybody. Great website and I hope to learn alot. Just trying learn about vacuforming lexan for r/c car bodies.
I have been trying with little success. I am using an oven and a box with a peg board top and a 5 horse shop vac. I keep getting little bubbles in the 1/16 lexan when I pull. I am heating at 400 degrees about 6" fom the upper element . I hope sombody can give me a few pointers.
Thank. vwdemon34

Hello and welcome,

Posting some pics of your oven and vac table setup will surely aid the forum sleuths in analyzing your issues. I myself have no experience with lexan but I am sure there are many people that can help.

I think that too much heat from your oven or moisture in your plastic will cause bubbles, are you storing the plastic in a moist/damp enviroment?

Welcome to the board! Lexan is acrylic, and will bubble if heated too hot too fast. Cool the plastic down, say in 50 Degree increments, for longer heating cycles, and see if that helps. Also, if you can dry your sheets of plastic before heating them, that would help in a humid climate.
