JANUARY: Tip of the Month

Clint came by to help me with some 1/6th scale parts I'm working on. A tip he suggested to help vent silicone molds is to use a small brass tube, the kind you get at the hobby store, to punch sprue holes into the silicone. Works great to help rid your small scale parts of air bubbles. And the tube I use makes these tiny 1/32 holes in the silicone although the outside diameter of the brass tube is much larger.

Hmmm..... that's classy! I have just always taken a X-acto knife and cut a small V-groove in one side of my (two-part) mold to make a vent... and vents make ALL the difference when you have propblem areas that trap air!
