I'm so stoked!! The folding stock I won off of Gunbroker.com arrived today....
My Galil went from this:
Over to THIS!!
I have a SWEET 3-finger grove pistol-grip on order and will install that when it arrives... for now I just cut up (with reckless glee and abandon LOL) that "Planet of the Apes" thumbhole stock, then carved the resulting pistol grip to a comfortable shape until my new one arrives.... _________________ Tony Krewson

Man, that is about the coolest thing I've seen all week! Fun stuff. Thanks Tony, for sharing the pics. 'MUCHO better-Oh!'
Now you don't have to run around with that stock saying things like:
'Get your stinking hands off of me you damn dirty ape!'
or
'You b@stards! You blew it up!'
LOL.
Sorry, Tony, I just had to say it. Let us know how it shoots!

Oh, and I should add, the grip looks great. Nice woodworking job to convert that POTA stock, to a useful grip. And it sure do look pretty.

Tony, I'm not sure you have seen this auction or not:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=120933632
Now, I don't know if yours is the same maker and features, but DANG! If an AWB goes into effect, that Galil of yours will be worth it's weight in gold! [if it's not already] LOL.

LOL... $4,500... sheesh!! Mine and his were made by IMI (in Israel), the only difference(s) is/are his was imported by Magnum Research (MR), mine was imported by Action Arms (AA), and his has the bayonet lug on the front... I've been looking for loose factory one, but its such an obscure piece that the chances are slim to none of scoring one.... BUT, BUT, BUT, I have THIS on its way from Cheaperthandirt.com and will mount it just in front on the gas block... it works with the M8 amnd M9 bayonets... woo hoo!! It looks like I scored one of the last ones... they are now on back order... sheesh, EVERYTHING is flying off the shelves... EVERYWHERE!!

When I saw that auction it was only at $3500! Jeepers! Hold on to that baby, and get an insurance rider for it!
As Sam Jackson said in Jurassic Park: "Hold on to your butts." Thats just insane. Depending on when you got your and how much you paid for it, I suspect you got a pretty good return on your investment.

I suppose I didn't do to bad... I acquired it in 1992 (or so) and took it as a partial payment of $1,200 for a 1983 Toyota 4X4 that I sold to a guy for $3,500. I believe that was shortly after the psycho shot up that school in Kalifornia with his AK-47 that had "Hezbollah" carved in the butt-stock... all the politicians were jumping on the "ban" wagon so prices were "expensive" back then... but it was a GALIL for cryin' out loud... I couldn't let it slip by... I just couldn't!!
I'm wishing I had forked out the $1,200 for a H&K G-3 assault rifle that was offered to me in another deal back then, too... but I had to eat, and pay the mortgage!!
The pistol grip and bayonet lug arrived today... I guess they discontinued the 3-finger groove model and now only make the 1x2 groove... that's OK. I still like it better than the "stock" Galil pistol-grip, its very comfortable, plus combined with the bayonet option.. it sure does polish off the "look" and functionality!!
Here's the photos of my now COMPLETED Galil!!!!
