What's the best way to clean a plaster mold from CLAY residue?

If it was 22 years ago, I would've remember, but it's being a long time since I've worked with molds and sculpting during a CERAMICS CLASS. Please, any help will be nice.

What type of clay?

Waterbase: water

Oilbase: lacquer thinner
