I form mountains of .118 thick stuff. Fairly rigid and robust, might be overkill for you, but it really forms well. Scott. |

The plastic I use for Candy & Soap Molds is HDPE, it is the same plastic that you find in gallon milk jugs. It is FDA approved for food and I usually use .30 thickness and works great.
Hope this helps.[/url] |

There are a group of plastics that are FDA approved for food. If you want the list let me know. I found that HDPE more suitable for candy molds, as well as for other things. It is easy to work with. I suggested plastic milk bottles because there are HDPE and if you are selling the molds and they are for family they are perfect and everyone has empty gallon milk jugs. The label that is on the mild jug is usually applied warm, therefore if you put the hotest tap water in the jug and let it set for about a minute, most of the labels just peel off easily. |

I'm in WV, US, hi all, first post..
Vacuform, or anyone who knows... what are the best sources for the HDPE .3 plastic? I'm having a difficult time finding anyone who is willing to cut it to size and ship... the only one I can find is Laird Plastic in Pittsburgh and the only food safe plastic they have is PETG .06 at $32 a 4x8 sheet, with a minimum order of $100, super nice people, but I'd like options for the HDPE, if someone can respond with a few good sources... I'm looking for one sheet minimums (to try the product), cut to size and reasonable shipping
Thanks in advance,

The best prices I found and great service is USPlastic in Ohio. You can check out their prices and shipping here:

I have checked a lot of suppliers and narrowed it down to US Plastic Corp.
If you find a better one, I am all ears! Thanks |

Can't beat the prices - I obviously need to improve my Google'ing skills, because this is the first I'm hearing of them, and I've been looking for a week or so... this is awesome, many thanks _________________ Scott |

Scott,
I said I would let you know of any other suppliers of HDPE. I just found out that Tap Plastic has HDPE in color sheets. I already have an order in. I have been looking for some colors other than "natural" and this is a big break for me. Their prices are great! You can visit their website here:
