I'm looking at this guy here: http://providence.craigslist.org/tls/1600480539.html

and found a data sheet for the model here:
http://www.wbnoble.com/forsale/vac-pumps/gast-r5-pump-specs.pdf

The seller specifies it as a water pump, but the data sheet seems to tell me it will pump air as well. (and probably wouldn't need the liquid seperator)

The specs seem to be even overkill for Vacuum Forming, but I just want to check with you guys before I drive out to Portsmouth to buy it.

What do you think? Does it have the right pressure capacity, CFM, etc?

I know the price is right... Wink

Only thing I'm kind of upset about is it appears to be 220V (dangit!) which is what I was trying to avoid with the rest of the former parts... perhaps this will be my excuse to do the whole machine in 220 instead.

NO
Hell No
ABSOLUTELY NO.

Look close. 60 inches of WATER vacuum. Thats less than 5 inches of mercury. You need 25 ish inches of mercury for tough plastics, less for hips. What you are lookin at is a glorified hi flow shop vac on 220 volts, 3 phase at that.. You would need a phase converter if you dont have 3 phase on site before you could use it....

It would make a REAL good 50 dollar door stop.....

Scott.

Thanks Spektr.

And this is why I asked... I had the information right in front of my face telling me this was not a good pump for a former, and I didn't even notice.

Wow... I just noobed it up on that one.
