Hello all, new guy checking in. I built a Thurston James design by reading these forums and this build description. And the oven calculator, of course.
I'm using a 30 gal compressor tank and a 3 cfm harbor freight vacuum pump. It all works great, excellent detail on the pulls. Now all I need is a way to get the forms out after the pull without busting out the corners. I've sloped the sides of the form but still no good. I'm going to try hitting it with a heat gun tomorrow.
One of the forms. Since this picture was taken I've re-cut this form and tapered and smoothed the sides.
First test pull from the above form.
Another test pull.
I'm making molds to cast concrete stepping stones. 16x16x2 for the stones, I'm actually pulling it to 2.875 height with my vacuum plate that I made. _________________ Am I still paranoid if I just think everyone's out to annoy me? |

Hey cac67, welcome to the boards. That is some beautiful work you're doing! Did you create the originals too? The medallion looks like it could be cnc work? Regardless, nice work. I've also posted a thought in the thread Spektr started on draft angles. _________________ DougN - Just in case you're wondering, I got my "rating" legitimately... by posting aimless drivel, useless advice, and pointless questions. |
