Holy cow! You may be a newbie to the forum, but you're a very accomplished woodworker!
You need to bring those to my vac table to melt some plastic
However, you may run into trouble trying to release the molds after pulling plastic over them due to the hard vertical corners on the ends. To make them easier to extract, you should make the ends sloped or rounded like you have done with your shin pieces. Then they will pop right out of the plastic.
Very nice work!

Tapers can be added on those ends if it turns out these molds stick.
I keep coming back, looking at these pics. WOW!
Great job, do you have any more to share? Hows your helmet mold? |

Great work buddy!
Looks like alot of time and effort has gone into these moulds.Looks like you based them on the FX armour.
Have you made a helmet mould yet and taken any pulls from it?

That's just so beautiful! Love the contour lines on all the pieces. What thickness of MDF do you use, BTW - 3/4 inch? |

Is that completely from scratch? Or did you use some kind of transfer to cut all of your lines/contours?
How long will the wood hold up vs UltraCal 30? _________________ Mattax

Hi all, I can't login for a while, so I will try to respond all the replies. All molds are hand scratch made, actually my helmet sucks, and I’m trying to make a new one. The first try releasing the molds was terrible, the small parts on the abdomen was broken, I resolve this issue whit a wood seal and then apply 2 hands of pure wax and all work great, I don't have any other problem whit this. I will post some pictures this week whit the final work. ABS is hard to obtain here, so I use HIPS 3mm to vacc, I really love the final armor looks great and strong. My problem here is that I don't have a good reference to how to get a good strap and snap system, if any of you guys have some pics will be great. Thanks!! |

We can't wait to see pictures of your armor! Well done on the molds. MDF holds up better than UltraCal30 IMHO.
As for how to assemble, here is a link I made some time ago:

I've used contact adhesive for gluing elastic to HIPS and worked well. You have to put glue on the elastic and the plastic then wait until it's almost dry before sticking together.I let it set for at least 24 hours before I touch it |
