Having trouble with your vacuum form molds sticking? Here are some things to test.
Try baby powder. That talcum power is very fine, adds a 'slick' surface, is not sticky like a oil, and is cheap, easy to find, and makes your molds smell like a fresh clean baby!
Put the talcum powder in an old sock, tie the end of the sock off, and then you can dab the power onto your mold.
Give it a good dose, wipe it down for a good coverage, then lightly dust it off with some compressed air to remove any excess.
Your molds will release easier. It will make your work shop dusty, so be carefull not to breath the power!
Also, a blast of compressed air under the corner of a pull can sometimes help seperate the mold from the pull.
And don't wait too long to remove the mold. Start to remove the molds from the pull, as soon as the plastic can hold it's shape. The softer the plastic is, the easier it is to remove, but don't be too eager, you don't want to deform the pull by trying to remove the mold too soon. |
