Hello my name is pete and I just found this webforum. Alot of good stuff on here. I built my own vacuum table already, the table is about 14X24 inches. The main purpose for this is to make my bodies for my RC cars. RC bodies are made from lexan but the local plastic place had to order some so I bought some PETG plastic and did some practice pulls with it and it works pretty good. The only thing is I am using my wifes oven to heat up the plastic but I have to put my frame in an angle because its so big.
I want to build an oven for the right size and build it so that I can use it right next to the table. I have seen alot of pics on people making these ovens but I am completely lost on how to wire the entire thing. I am no electrician so alot of this stuff I don't understand. Please I think I need some help and not really a "read this thread" or "buy these plans" thing. For the people that have built these ovens make it seem so simple. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

OK after some more searching on this site I've found the plans to build the oven. Now my question is....
does the oven wire used need to be precoiled?

I've found some for sale but its not precoiled. If its better coiled then is this something that I could coil myself around a pipe or something similar or is it just better to get it precoiled?

After looking over the plans this is something I can definately build but I dont want to take a chance and buy material that I cannot use.

Hi Pete
Here is a good place to buy the nichrome wire (it is pre-coiled, you can coil it yourself...but I think this is a better choice) cost is under $34 for a 10' section...you will have plenty left over. A 10' section made a 32"x48" oven for me, plus I have enough left over for another 2'x2'.

The plans you found(I assume are for Proto Form) are a good choice as well, a lot of good info in there.
Good luck
Mark
