|
|
My name is Q Manning. I'm a Senior Film & Television major at the Savannah College of Art and Design. I'm beginning work on my Senior Film, Sons of God. The movie is a sci-fi based live-action film, and for it, I'll need two full costumes created.
Information on the film can be found at www.godiswatching.net
Presently, we are in the finalization stage with concept artists to create the design for the Acolytes, the "storm troopers" of this universe, more or less.
My budget is limited, however, this is a paying job. I'm looking for a skilled person who can help me to create the custom armor that will appear in the film. As mentioned, two costumes will be created, with the other soldiers mentioned being done with CGI/Greenscreen.
You will be fully credited. We are shooting 35mm, not video. If you know anything about filmmaking, you know the big difference this is, and should show you our dedication to the project.
In addition, there will be the need to produce the "weapons" seen in the film, so anyone who is keen on that sort of thing should contact me as well.
This is the chance to have YOUR design work be the one people fall in love with, the one's people say, "Wow...that looks really badass!" like you were when you first saw Vader or the Stormtroopers!

Very interesting project!
Some questions:
Is this to be some sort of rigid 'armor' like that used on Stormtroopers? If so, then vacuum forming only 2 copies seems like a lot of wasted effort without the duplication economy of scale vacuum forming brings. With such a limited run, fiberglass might be a better option.
If the armor is to be more flexible than what vac-forming or fiberglass gives you, then some sort of latex foam, similar to the batman cowl might be an option. But again, such a small run, you are talking some serious expense.
The design so far is similar to Shogun armor, and that might serve as a basis to modify an exisiting couple of copies. Add to the mix some modded trooper or Fett armor, and your set.
Just some thoughts.

Well...actually, if the price was cheap enough, I woudl DEFINITELY love to have more th an two. I was thinking two only because I assumed it would keep costs down.
If being able to vaccuum form would allow us to make a number of replicas on the cheap, this would be the way to go - the more we can shoot practical the better - because that means less CG for the people involved.
The more Acolytes I can get on that hillside when actually shooting, the better
Think of this stuff EXACTLY like stormtrooper armor. Same rigidity and everything. _________________ http://www.godiswatching.net

If I did not have a dozen projects already in the works, I'd love to take a crack at your project. |
