Last week was a wash, so here is this weeks tip[s]:

Use a heat gun to reshape those parts that don't fit so well. Use the low setting, and you can get your trooper helmet ears, or armor knees or collar strips to fit better. Don't dilly-dally around too long, though! Even on the lo setting, a heat gun will blow through HIPS in only a few seconds. Keep the gun a good 6-8 inches away from the surface.

Also,

You can use wood putty to fill cracks in Ultra-Cal, Bondo, cement, etc. Just don't smear too much on at a time, and be sure to remove all the sanding dust before you apply it.
