Hey gang, I've got myself a rebel fleet trooper helmet and am working on a X-Wing helmet. I was wondering if the Y-Wing and A-Wing helmets from Return of the Jedi are being made or how they would be made from scratch. Are they based off of an existing helmet? I'm pretty sure the A-Wing was a 2 piece one, with a flight cap like the ones used for the Endor helmets. Any help would be appreciated.

Here are some of the other helmets you are talking about:

As for their construction, I dunno. Personally, I'm more fond of the X-wing style helmets.

Hey thanks Mr. Egner. Those are the Y-Wing helmets I was speaking of. To me that look like they might have possibly been made from motorcycle helmets.

Please, call me Jim, and you are welcome. Oh, and the A-wing helmet:

Greetings!

This is my first post on this board. I'm very glad to be here!

I'm upgrading my old X-Wing Pilot outfit, which never had a helmet. I like the design of the X-Wing helmets, but they've been done to death. I never liked the A-Wing helmets... until now. I thought they were just the piece that wraps around the back over a cloth helmet, but these pictures show that there's a whole shell around the pilot's head, with kind of a high forehead. As a complete helmet, they're pretty cool!

Has anybody tried to replicate these? Or will I have to be the first?

I think there are some, maybe by Richie's armor that have been done.

I poked around the Richie's Armor site; there are pictures of the Y-Wing helmet, but not the A-Wing (at least, not the A-Wing as it actually appeared in the movie).

That's okay. My X-Wing Pilot outfit is 20 years old, at least, and I'm just now getting back to fixing little details (kind of like George Lucas himself). The right helmet will present itself in due time, whether I have to make it myself or not.

Right now, though, the idea of making it myself is looking more and more attractive.
