WOW! And to think you can make a similar style Thurston James model for less than $300.

I've seen that one advertised on ebay.I'm going to make my clamping frames hinge like that one,I think it's a great idea and would work well when making helmets Very Happy

Overall it looks nice I think.

EXTERNAL VACUUM PUMP (NOT INCLUDED)!!!

I could make my own exact replica of that same design and it wouldn't cost even 1/4th of their Price!!!

I like that nicrome ribbon they used for the heaters, and that hinge system that allows you to raise up the frame so you can come down on the mold(s) level as opposed to "swinging a door" down on them seems to be pretty nifty as well! Very Happy

Yes, that is a spiffy looking oven they have. I'm sure it's a custom made one. Wish I could find it's source.

The pivot for the holding frame is pretty cool. I think when I re-do my machine for conversion to tabletop, I'll try to incorporate that into the new design.

That book is the last word in mold making. Thurston James has two other books that are great as well, one on masks, and the other on prop making. That book has insturctions on making a prop replica Thompson machine gun! OMG!

The vacuum form machine I made was based off the info from Thurston James' book.
