OK, I have to improvise on a regular basis building my E-11's in my shop so here is something I thought I'd share.
I do a lot of oxy-acetylene torch welding because some of the things I weld are just too tiny for the arc-weld or wire feed welder, and soldering (acid-core or otherwise) isn't always an option either.
If you need welding rod for oxy-acetylene welding use coat hanger wire! It hasn't let me down yet, and if you know how to finese your base metals with your flame, you can "push a nice puddle" and make some pretty nice looking weld-beads that are pretty danged strong! _________________ Tony Krewson

Great tip! I would have never thought of that.
