After searching for almost 6 months....in a week, I learned my neighbor was throwing out a water heater tank providing me with one, and our resident crashman provided me with a local lead that resulted in yet another tank! For that I owe you bigtime C-man. I also owe everyone who contributed their ideas and leads....especially this thread http://www.tk560.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=443 showing photos for us newbs trying to visually identify raw resources (good idea for future threads btw)

So, now that I am dripping in warm, wet tankygoo loveness, its time to turn my attention to the pump....or pumps.

I dont mind dropping a few hundred for a pump if it comes highly recommened.

May I thus solicit suggestions for that pump in question?

Congratulations on getting tanked!

I got an incredible deal on a Gast 1065 pump with a 3/4 horsepower motor on eBay. However, a search of completed auctions did not reveal any 1065's on eBay in the past few months.

So, search on "Gast vacuum" and "Robinair vacuum" and you'll get plenty of potential candidates. Sift through the descriptions to be sure the pump is set for 115VAC (unless you've got 220V in your shop Smile) You'll also want to make sure the pump pulls at least 6 CFM.

There are so many models out there, it's hard to really recommend one. But if you think you've got a candidate, post the link up here, and we'll give it a thumbs up or down.

Good luck!

Great score in the tank!

I got my pump from Tony K. You might ask him. He goes by TK4063 here IIRC.

I found a Gast 1023 on ebay for a decent enough price.

I aslo stumbled upon a company DoveBid....
http://www.dovebid.com/search/searchresults.asp?Query=gast

They have some awesome prices on some high end pumps...
I've watched Gast 1423's that closed at $60.....
The "catch" seemed to be how shipping and handling was done....
much different than ebay - and they were tailored toward commercial customers. Still - the pricing made it worthwhile to see how things worked.
