Not sure what specifically you need, but here is my limited boot experience;
I wear black 12-hole gripfasts, they make a vegan version which I'm keen on and they have a nice tread and a steel toe. I usually only bust out boots in the winter months though.
I also wear stormtrooper boots from caboots, but only when I dress up like a sandtrooper. Wink

When I'm stomping around as a TIE Pilot or an Imperial Officer, I wear German officer boots from World War II (at least they smell like they're from WWII!)

Otherwise, I don't participate in the boot scoot boogy Razz

Here are some helpful links:

CABoots: http://www.caboots.com/ you can do a search for Stormtrooper boots, or Star Trek Boots, etc. http://www.caboots.com/category/d/ is the trooper book link.

Also, the Rebel Fleet Trooper, X-wing Pilot, Death Star Gunner, and TIE Pilots all used German Jack boots. Once available from www.sportsmansguide.com these now are getting hard to find. Here is the only other source I know of: http://www.tridentmilitary.com/Boots.htm scroll down to the East German Boots section.

For economical footwear, you'd have a hard time beating the prices at:
http://easterncoastcostume.com/Pages/gogoboots/boot01.htm

I don't know about the durability of the items purchased here (since I haven't personally ordered from them), but if it's just for a brief scene in a movie, then they should work fine. Stomping around a convention all day would be a different story...

These are not so hot or so I've heard. If you go this cheap make sure you buy some gel insoles. Otherwise your dogs will be barkin'. Wink

i bought my boots from ebay (search elvis boots... really cheap and fast shipping!) or at www.buystarwarscostumes.com (also really cheap)
zips up at the side, the vinyl is maybe 0.080 inches thick (like HIPS), my pair smelled like that terrible 70's smell, too! Laughing
Just watch out for sizing, because if you screw this up, you'll end up modifying your calf molds like i am doing Crying or Very sad ...terrible, terrible MDF fumes...
