Has anyone ever used the compressor off of a fridge? |

A lot of people have used them for vacuum bagging / veneering, but there are a couple of hitches:
1. They're very low CFM pumps, so it'll take a while to draw a tank down
2. A lot of recent ones dont' work for vacuum; they burn out after 20 minutes of use or so. Apparently there's some way of guessing from the shape of the pump whether it's the kind that will work.

I've used a Food Saver II kitchen-type vacuum sealer with good results. |
