Just picked up a copy of Night of the Comet from Walmart for $10. Great flick, inspired by I am Legend, and Dawn of the Dead.

Great 80's cheese! Get a slice while you can!

Okay, so I picked up this movie about a week ago and watched it. First, I love 80's cheese so I love the movie.

But I do need a little clarification. This was a made for tv movie wasn't it? After the opening sequence at the party, which was probably filmed in one or two nights, the movie lacks extras, mean zombie extras. Biker cops don't count.

Someone's friend worked in a radio station, or had an apartment they dressed with a reel to reel and a mic to make it look like a radio station.

Not much for costume design either, jumpsuits anyone?

But I love it none the less, as I'm sure tk560 will agree, this movie making stuff ain't easy.

Get the film while you can! Before it becomes a collectors item like Flash Gordon (80s)

Night of the Comet was an actual theratical release, but was rated a PG-13. IIRC it was toned down to get a larger audience. Not sure that worked.

You are right, it looks pretty low budget. Typical of the time it was made. LOL.

That reminds me of another fine sci-fi movie from the 80's "They Live" with Rowdy Roddy Piper. He finds a pair of special sunglasses that shows whether you are really human, or actually an alien using the media to control the human race!

This movie also gave us one of the greatest quotes from Hollywood:
“I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass… and I’m all out of bubblegum.”

I haven't seen this movie in years, but I'm sure it will be in the bargain bin next to Night of the Comet Smile

They Live also has the longest useless fight scenes in any film ever shot! LOL.
