this should probably move to a thread outside of this gallery thread, so you get more specific answers. A lot of people might not see your question here.
But to answer- I think you should try pulling earlier- less sag. _________________ <.o'> |

|

Hi Cod, thats a good idea, I'll try not waiting as long when plastic starts to sag. I was also thinking that maybe if I use oven mitts to (flatten) rub out wrinkles before turning on vac it might help ? If someone knows how to move this post, feel free, I would'nt know where, but if someone does, please tell me where it is so I can find it to view the responces. I'll be doing half a dozen pulls this weekend again and was hoping for more advise, it's getting costly now trying to figure out how to pull without the wrinkles. Thanks for the help, Tony |

|

Hi gang, placed a large order yesterday for my plastic. I'm working with a salesman from Piedmount Plastics, he was very helpfull and got me a great deal on my plastic and shipping costs. We talked for awhile and he told me he has an e-bay store that I just looked at. Hope I can post this here for you guys, he sells left over plastic on his site, so if it's ok, heres his store link, http://stores.ebay.com/Donny-Dixons-Attic Maybe you guys can get some great deals from him to buy plastic for experamenting with. Good luck and thank you guys for all your help, I'm starting full production next week when my plastic comes in. Tony |

I was just wondering if anyone is applying heat to the plastic when it is in the vacuum station like infrared lamps or a heat gun for spot working of an area. We used an array of infrared bulbs when the materiel went on the mold and during the pull down. _________________ Brent Scott |

I've used heat guns to 'massage' a spot that is not forming right. |

Hi All,
finally got picts of my vac table uploaded:
It's a 24x24 inch table with heater placed above. The plastic is raised up to the top, heated and then lowered to the heater.
Right now it's hooked up a sears shop vac and is working really well!

Well the 24 x 24 design is now gone. Starting Ver 3.0 and i am back to the Thurston James style....except going with the crashman design of 24 x 32.
This one is made primarily out of wood for the frame. Hardibacker 500 for the oven, and using the same pump and tank from Ver 2.0.
Will post pics when i get a chance. |

WOW...it has taken some time but i now have the table complete and working.
Overall
Platen
Oven
Pump
And here is a peice i am working on....26 inches long, 17 inches wide, and 11 inches high. Formed using .080 HIPS and worked beutifully.
All i am have to do now is modify the frame so it can accept thicker plastic. |
