I use a heating element out of an electric range oven. I bought it used at a local appliance repair shop for 5$. My machine is an over under type machine.
I looked at using the Ni-chrome wire, but will it put out as much heat as a oven element? For the 2’ X 4’ machine I will be building I plan on using two heating elements, unless I can get the wire to work. |

Good tips. I like the air compressor reversed for vacuum idea. I need to try that! As for the heater element, the problem I have with the range element, is, even heat. I can't stress enough the importance of the even distribution of heat. Most 'off the shelf' elements I have used have hot and cold spots, and this spells disaster for vac forming. The nichrome wir is cheap enough and easy to form into a custom element. |
