A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to go to a Star Wars convention in Plano. Awesome!
David Prowse(Darth Vader), Peter Mayhew(Chewbacca), Kenny Baker(R2-D2), Jermey Bulloch(Boba Fett), & Daniel Logan (Ep II young Boba) were there and I got to meet/see them all. It was awesome to talk and shake the hands of legends. David Prowse and Peter Mayhew were especially kind. Tim Rose, Mike Quinn, Femi Taylor and Paul Weston were there as well-stunt guys and puppeteers on ROTJ. All awesome with great stories.
The 501st were out in force and had escort duty for several of the guest. But there were plenty of Jedi around to keep them on their toes.
The guys from the Dented Helmet were there. And some folks who make functioning R2-D2s. It was cool to see a real R2 running around.
One of the highlights was a "Future of Star Wars" Presentation by Lucasfilm PR guy Steve Sansweet. It included a great fan-made tribute video to everyone who has contributed to the Star Wars films who has passed away. And a advance preview at the new Clone Wars CGI cartoon series with behind the scenes docs. This video was oringally shown at Celebration Europe. But was still off the chain. Sansweet also did talk about the upcoming TV series but not much in the way of updates, still in the early stages of pre-production, location scouting and meeting with writers.
It was a great convention with good guests and great dealers. Hope to make the next one and see you there! |

Sadly, I did not troop the event. My trooper suit needs some repair and reworking and I still need a blaster, a holster, some "under armor pants or -a body-suit leotard" Needless to stay I won't be trooping until I can pour the funding into getting my suit completed and as comfortable as it can be.
Dropping thirty pounds wouldn't hurt me either.
But I did but on my jedi robes and had plenty of company. |
